OTTAWA–General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada has been selected by the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) to formally proceed with a public safety and security program in Panama.
CCC, a Crown corporation of the Government of Canada, is Canada’s international contracting and procurement agency that is fulfilling a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the governments of Panama and Canada. The MOU was put in place to facilitate closer relations between the two governments including collaboration to enhance public safety and security in Panama.
General Dynamics has been selected to provide a turn-key, integrated public safety solution for the Panama Ministry of Public Security, known as CitySHIELD™.
“Safety and security is a top priority for the Government of Panama and CitySHIELD will empower their emergency and security services with a fully integrated inter-agency operations centre,” said David Ibbetson, vice president and general manager of General Dynamics Mission Systems–International. “CitySHIELD will give Panamanian public safety agencies the tools they need to become a more connected and coordinated response force.”
The CitySHIELD solution is built on the General Dynamics’ SHIELD Ecosystem architecture. For Panama, CitySHIELD will integrate surveillance cameras, public emergency panic buttons, citizen collaboration tools, GPS location information and other capabilities all fused into the C5 Inter-Agency Emergency and Security Operations Centre. General Dynamics’ CitySHIELD will combine these technologies with a computer assisted dispatch system that will allow the Panamanian police and emergency services to respond faster and more effectively.
