In the dynamic landscape of defence and security, the ability to leverage cutting-edge technology and strategic partnerships is paramount to maintaining a nation’s sovereignty and security. As Canada’s strategic supplier, General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada is delivering Land C4ISR to Task Force Latvia.
General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada’s DIGITALspine mobilizes digital transformation and technological innovation at pace with mission requirements to address ever-evolving challenges faced by the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and allies. This optimized LC4ISR network empowers defence forces to operate with unparalleled efficiency and effectiveness by connecting every sensor, effector, and decision maker. At the edge of conflict, soldiers can securely tap into new and legacy systems while operating seamlessly with joint, interagency, multinational, and public partners.
At the heart of DIGITALspine are strategic partnerships with industry and collaboration with end-users in the field. General Dynamics has achieved reduced delivery timelines by continuously integrating leading industry capabilities into DIGITALspine, based on real-time feedback from soldiers. The digital sandbox, known as ‘Battle Lab’, allows engineers, industry partners, and the Army to experiment and innovate. “With the changing pace of today’s technology and missions,” says Andrew Shepherd, vice president of Land and Joint Solutions, “this collaborative environment aids in urgent rapid delivery to the user, as well as propelling forward looking solutions that will give the CAF a competitive advantage.”
In January 2024, leaders from across the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Army attended a demonstration of DIGITALspine shortly after the award of four long-term sustainment contracts to General Dynamics. Through demonstrations, experimentation in the field, and testing alongside the Department of National Defence, General Dynamics has shown the ability to implement technology and upgrades that have culminated in a deployed capability to Latvia.
As Canada continues to navigate an ever-changing battlespace, the role of DIGITALspine becomes more critical than ever. General Dynamics stands ready to support the CAF navigate a digital transformation that will help ensure Canada remains strong, secure, and engaged.
