Towed Array Sonar
PROVIDING INTEGRATED TOWED SONAR SOLUTIONS TO CANADIAN & ALLIED NAVAL FLEETS FOR OVER 40 YEARS.
Towed array sonar solutions provide active and passive sensor surveillance, enabling long-range detection-tracking-localization against modern quiet submarine and torpedo threats.
Whether in complex littoral or deep ocean environments, our towed array sonar solutions are designed to achieve maximum performance.
Why choose our Towed Array Sonar solutions?
- Proven performance, trusted supplier. For more than 40 years, General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada has been a proud sonar supplier to Canadian and Allied navies worldwide.
- Extensive expertise. Our solutions are ever-evolving. For each product iteration, we carefully consider previous performance, user feedback, and input from our expert scientific and design teams.
- Leading-edge technologies. Our passive-only and active/passive towed array sonar systems include sensors, processing and operator display technologies—allowing bistatic as well as multistatic active/passive operations to be fulfilled.
- Flexibility. Designed for installing on unmanned surface vessels and naval vessels of all sizes, major mechanical components can be downsized to accommodate smaller platforms—all while maintaining the same transmit-and-receive capability as systems designed for larger naval platforms.
- Ease of use. Designed in consultation with Navy operational staff, our solutions offer an intuitive and efficient HMI (human-machine interface)—minimizing operator workload while maximizing mission effectiveness.
Towed Low Frequency Active/Passive Sonar Solutions
Our horizontal (HPA) and vertical projector array (VPA) sonar solutions include active transmit and passive receive sensors within the same critical-angle tow assembly—enabling naval fleet operators to emit modern transmit pulse waveforms and receive reflected target echo data at an unambiguous receive array.
Towed Array Sonar System Upgrades
Our adjunct processing upgrades involve the quick installation and interfacing of modern technologies into your ship’s existing sonar system. Significantly improve your operational capability with Matador—enabling unprocessed data to be concurrently processed on modern signal processing and display hardware.
