General Dynamics has signed on for another three years as the patron sponsor of Women in Defence and Security (WiDS). Their continued commitment means we can progress and extend our efforts to drive change in culture, diversity, equity, and inclusion for women in the defence and security industries in Canada.

This sponsorship will provide $25,000 per year to support program development and WiDS’ mandate to promote the advancement of women in careers related to Canada’s defence and security. This is General Dynamics’ second term in this capacity, after becoming the inaugural patron sponsor in 2018.

“At General Dynamics, we believe in maintaining a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion and have been supporting WiDS for many years through sponsorship and active participation in the organization’s events,” said Jason Alejandro Monahan, vice president and general manager of General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada. “From those just starting their careers to those in senior management, our employees have benefited from the valuable programming that WiDS provides, and we’re proud to play a role in such a key industry enabler.”

This patron sponsorship is comprised of support from three General Dynamics companies in Canada: Land Systems, Mission Systems and Ordnance and Tactical Systems.

“We are incredibly grateful to have General Dynamics return as our patron sponsor and thank them for their ongoing commitment to supporting women in the defence and security community,” said WiDS President Lorena MacKenzie. “The strength of our programming is dependent on the financial support of our sponsors, and General Dynamics has consistently stepped up and been an industry-leading partner to WiDS past, present, and future."
