SOLUTIONS DEMONSTRATED:

General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada

General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada will present at CANSEC innovative products, highly integrated systems and other services and solutions that ensure that the Canadian Armed Forces stay ready to face any challenge. The Land Systems–Canada booth will include displays of and information about the following vehicles and systems:

  • Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV) 6.0 with 30mm Turret
    • General Dynamics Land Systems’ 30mm turret has been integrated on a LAV 6.0 vehicle for showcase at CANSEC 2023. Delivering a high level of protection and lethality, the 30mm turret’s architecture can support a two-person or Remote Weapon Station configuration. It also has the same turret ring as the LAV-25 turret, which facilitates upgrading the weapon system to the common chassis.
  • TRX Uncrewed Ground Vehicle
    • The Tracked Robot 10-ton (TRX) platform features innovative thinking -- from its artificial intelligence-enhanced design to advanced, lightweight materials and hybrid-electric propulsion system – and has a best-in-class payload capacity to accommodate any mission equipment package. It provides superior performance for numerous critical battlefield roles, including counter-uncrewed aerial systems (c-UAS), autonomous resupply, complex obstacle breaching, electronic warfare and reconnaissance.
  • Armoured Combat Support Vehicle (ACSV) Ambulance
    • The ACSV is an extension of the LAV 6.0 family of vehicles in service with the Canadian Army. The Ambulance provides the Army’s combat support elements the same protection and mobility as the combat fleet and gives medical personnel increased space and protection to perform life-saving procedures. The ACSV comes in eight variants: Troop/Cargo Vehicle (TCV), Ambulance (AMB), Command Post (CP), Engineer (ENGR), Electronic Warfare (EW), Maintenance Recovery Vehicle (MRV), Mobile Repair Team (MRT) and the Fitter/Cargo Vehicle (FCV).
  • Autonomous Vehicle System (AVS)
    • Developed by General Dynamics Land Systems, AVS software can change the way the military manages its maintenance activities. AVS allows the customer to move from reactive maintenance to predictive maintenance, enabling high vehicle availability and lowest-cost logistics support.
  • Katalyst Next Generation Electronic Architecture (NGEA)
    • General Dynamics’ modular open architecture features scalable and modular hardware and software for next-generation capabilities. It significantly improves vehicles’ battlefield effectiveness via enhanced mobility; object detection, identification and recognition; and 360-degree situational awareness. Katalyst NGEA also provides core capabilities, such as computing, sensor fusion and processing, plus power management and distribution.

    General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada

    • Airborne Mission Management
      • As part of Canada’s Multi-Mission Aircraft Team, General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada is showcasing its best-in-class integrated mission systems for fixed and rotary-wing aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles. These capabilities simplify the complexity of airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance processes for surface and sub-surface maritime surveillance–along with overland and littoral surveillance operations.
    • Distributed Acoustics Processing Suite
    • Tactical Network as a Service (TNaaS) demonstration
      • At Stand 3042 (located with the outdoor displays), General Dynamics Joint Defence headquarters is collaborating with a variety of Canada’s best and brightest technology companies, academics, and innovators to demonstrate integration from the cloud to edge showing the distribution of voice, tactical data, and multimedia to enable Joint All Domain Command and Control. This demonstration will connect information from joint and multinational elements to the HQ, mounted, and dismounted commanders, staff, and soldiers of the Canadian Armed Forces using General Dynamics Tactical Network as a Service (TNaaS) solution. Communication technologies on display will include Low Earth Orbit satellite communications, LTE/5G cellular connectivity, very-high speed low probability of detection/interception line of sight, and mobile ad hoc networks.
        • Collaborators joining this JDHQ display include: Telesat, AWS, SimFront/Calian, Base Camp Connect, KWESTT, Tacteris, Siklu, Systematic, Ultra, and Persistent Systems.
    • LX300 Remotely Piloted Helicopter
      • With an innovative tandem rotor design and quick attach system, the LX300 allows for sustained operations in multiple mission types. It has a certified heavy fuel engine, capacity to carry 180kg, and has an endurance of 10 hours with 200km extended line of sight.
    • General Dynamics is showcasing its advanced suite of tactical displays which offer high-resolution feeds from any sensor or camera with low latency to enable more efficient decision-making, driving, targeting, and stabilization in near real time.
    • Secure Network and Voice Products: General Dynamics Mission Systems’ secure voice, data protection and information sharing solutions support our customers’ critical missions to help them to navigate the cyber ecosystem.
      • TACLANE® high assurance encryption solutions are interoperable and NSA certified, providing widely deployed classified voice and data protection for national security systems, information and networks at the highest levels.
      • Sectéra® Secure Voice personal communication devices provide certified high-assurance, end-to-end secure communication solutions from the desktop to the frontlines.

We are the Centre of Excellence for military ammunition, propellant and explosive in Canada.

  • Artillery Propellant
    • The GD OTS Canada propellant plant located in Valleyfield, Quebec specializes in the development and manufacture of extruded propellant. The plant is recognized worldwide for its large caliber propellant production mainly for artillery applications. It is the sole source provider for the US Army’s 155mm MACS High Zone propellant. Currently supporting NATO countries and allied nations on a variety of artillery propulsion products.
  • 127mm Naval Ammunition
    • Up to the end of 1990s, the Royal Canadian Navy’s Iroquois Class was equipped with 127mm weapon systems. In appreciation of the legacy 127mm weapon systems, artefacts of the Cartridge Case and High Explosive Projectile will be showcased, as the Royal Navy once again will integrate a version of the 127mm weapon system in its future Combatant Surface Ships.
  • 57mm Naval Ammunition
    • On display will be the 57 mm Target Practice Insensitive Munition (TP-IM) adopted by the US Navy as well as a 57mm High Explosive Point Detonating cartridge; a cost effective solution to engage many targets in Line of Sight and beyond.
  • Reduced Range Ammunition (RRA)
    • Visitors will be able to see and discuss the most recent advances in this field, including the new 30mm RRA projectile and the improved 12.7mm RRA and frangible SRTA bullets.
  • 7.62mm FX® & SecuriBlank® ammunition soon will be introduced to the Simunition® training solution suite, to be used in conjunction with Simunition® conversion kits for the FN SCAR-H, the H&K 417 and the AK-47 weapons. This new caliber of ammunition will complement the existing suite of Simunition® FX® / SecuriBlank® training ammunition.
  • 9mm FX® Gen 2 ammunition soon will be introduced to the Simunition® training solution suite to be used in conjunction with existing Simunition® conversion kits. This cartridge was developed to greatly reduce barrel fouling when firing the original 9mm FX® cartridge and will be available in both Marking and Nonmarking configurations.
