OTTAWA–General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada has been selected by the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) to formally proceed with a second public safety and security program in Panama to implement a facial recognition and video management system. It will be installed in two terminals at the Tocumen International Airport and at the Paso Canoas border crossing between Panama and Costa Rica.
This second program is in addition to the integrated public safety solution General Dynamics is currently providing for the Panama Ministry of Public Security. Both programs are being delivered under contracts awarded by CCC, on behalf of the Government of Canada, following the requirements identified in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Governments of Panama and Canada. The MOU facilitates closer relations between the two governments and supports collaboration to enhance public safety and security in Panama.
“We are thrilled to be expanding our impact on the Government of Panama’s public safety and security strategy,” said David Ibbetson, vice president and general manager of General Dynamics Mission Systems–International. “With this new program, we will be delivering the cutting-edge technical solutions the Panamanian public safety agencies need to keep their points of entry adequately protected.”
CCC President and CEO, Martin Zablocki, further stated, “CCC is delighted to help Canadian companies like General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada deliver advanced technology based solutions that address the safety and security needs of foreign governments.”
General Dynamics will be implementing the largest and most advanced surveillance-based facial recognition system in Latin America, which will include monitoring and control centers, mobile application licenses for user authorities, a modern video management system, high-resolution IP cameras, and three years of technical support and maintenance.
